Under new rules instituted by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac in the wake of the recent collapse of Champlain Towers South condominium in Surfside, Fla., condo boards and/or property managers are required to answer a 12-question form about the structural integrity of condominium buildings and the financial health of the homeowner's association in order for a buyer to get financing. In addition, buildings that don't meet standards are added to a list of those ineligible for loans backed by Fannie Mae.
